YouTube Vlog Announcement

Greetings One and All,

As I mentioned in the last post I had a daily goal on the Instagram account to create compelling photos with basic fundamental photography aesthetic, while striving for a goal of reaching 10K Followers.  The Instagram wasn’t about using the best lens, the best camera or anything like that. It was about using an iPhone, the most common camera, available to most everyone, and try to do something special. With intention behind each photo, there would be no room for documenting my mundane and daily existence.   My goal of 10,000 followers I initially estimated to take a year but it ended up taking almost two.   I achieved that goal this afternoon.  Thank you Andrew Oxenham for being Mr. 10K ( He told me he wouldn’t follow till I hit my goal so I texted him at 9999 this morning!)

So that brings me to my purpose for the post today.  I’m embarking on a new journey, to parallel with my Instagram quest, and to challenge me in a similar way on a daily creative exercise. And I want to inspire people to live out their goals! To chase the impossible dreams, because NOTHING, is impossible.  So i’ve started a YouTube Vlog!  Feel free to like and subscribe ;) . Cause I know how these things work. They take time. Time and determination with an eagerness to succeed.   I’m embarking on a new goal. A larger goal!   I”m not going to give up on this Youtube ( I may take breaks)  until I hit 100K.  It’s going to take me YEARS.  I know NOBODY famous will help me out.  I know I won’t get any help as a Suggested User so I’m going to have to work hard, be creative and be vulnerable.  I know that there will be times I don’t want to share the struggle, but I know that’s exactly what I need to show.  Because that’s what inspires me about other vlogs.  The transparency of ordinary human beings doing extraordinary things.   I think I have a unique life worthy of a strong effort.  I travel often for work and I’m surrounded by lots of charismatic, entertaining people, and I’m always working in different conditions, up against different odds.  Ok, less type.

I’ve spent a few weeks cutting together the following highlight video, and starting this week, (YIKES!) I am going full force on a daily basis (probably going to be every other day) To shoot, edit and upload a daily vlog.

Come join me on this journey, wont you?

Greetings One and All!

Two years ago I told myself (and my friends) that if I’m a cinematographer I should at least be up for the challenge to create pictures with my phone on @Instagram as compelling as anyone. And that if some kid in the middle of the country could amass thousands of followers then so can I. And I made it a goal: 10,000 followers. I thought it would take a year. Less actually!! I thought it would be easy! (Hopefully friends reading can confirm my arrogance.) As I was dead wrong. It wasn’t easy. It’s been real hard! And along the way I learned it’s sometimes unfair. I learned not many people will promote your account. I learned about app politics, publicity, really really good hashtags, and then I discovered the diamond: #InstaMeets! And there is the key. InstaMeets. When one discovers that this application is actually a very powerful gateway drug to interacting with other humans in the real world it changes everything. – See, It’s just like life. The harder you are willing to work for what you want the greater the rewards. And usually you can’t do great things alone. You need to keep pace with something or someone. (At the time of this post) I haven’t made it to my goal yet, but I am confident that I will (I made it!). And I know that #TodayImet myself, again. Because I’m capable of anything. And like this picture , in life when pursuing a goal, when the water level gets low and appears impassable you have a choice. You can give up or you can do things you didn’t want to do. Things you couldn’t foresee. When attending an instameet you discover you’re not in the boat alone. And together you can shake the boat and jostle the oars and a whole lot of other work and eventually, you will make it through. Trust me friends, you will make it through. You just have to hustle harder! October 4-5 is World Wide InstaMeet 12. I hope if you’re looking you can find a group to hustle with in a city near you! #WWIM12
